The Story

So my buddy Dylan informed me that he was coming into town and he said, and I quote ” I’m looking to party!” When he arrived I told him that I had been hearing really great things about this brand new bar called Bobcat Nation. To be honest I don’t think he could have cared less where we went, as long as the beer was cold, my long life best best friend would be happy. This was a typical Wednesday night and we were looking to grab some appetizers and of coarse a few brews. When we arrived we sat outside on a smaller patio but in each corner there were two large flat screens. We were greeted by a young attractive waitress (She told us here name but we ended up getting pretty hammered so it went through one ear and out the other). We told her that we have never been there before and she began to explain their drink specials and happy hour. When she was done explaining everything Dylan’s face lit up like a fat kid in a candy store! it was $2 you call its!!!! Thus explaining how we got so drunk! I believe Dylan and my other buddy Josh  ordered a beer, and I ordered a specialty drink called the Hot Bobcat. it is Rebecca Creek Whisky and Coke with muddled Jalapeno’s. I normally am not a fan of spicy cocktails but this one wasn’t too bad. The whisky and coke was crisp and smooth but it had a slight spicy after taste that was not too hot but just right. A Texas drink with a Tejas kick is the best way I can describe it. We ended up camping their for the remainder of the night rather than bar hopping. Once the sun went down we moved the party in doors to the bar. Our waitress was actually getting off her shift and ended up having a couple of drinks with us at the bar which was really cool! Not many establishments will let employees hang out at the bar but there seemed to be no problems. She was super friendly and attractive (much like all the ladies that work there) and she ended up staying out with us almost the entire night. Over all it was a great time! The bar was not too packed but had plenty of people inside. We then began to sample all the different types of beers and buying each other rounds. We could afford to be high rollers like this only because everything was $2! Talking about making it rain!!

The Down Low

I was talking to the bartender and she was also very attractive and very friendly. She told me that Bobcat nation was starting there very own challenge or assignment as she called it. See Bobcat Nation (unlike 90% of bars) has an endless variety of bottled beers! They have a selection of 80 different beers! Yes that number again was 80! Becca the Bartender told me that if a customer drinks all 80 beers they will get plaque hung on the wall and a free t-shirt! I know what your thinking, 80 beers in one day?!?! No silly’s over the coarse of your time at Texas State University! They keep track with a punch card. After she told me this I am now determined to be one of the first ones with my name on that wall!

The Atmosphere

The bar is brand new like I said and everything inside is top of the line! This is not your everyday hole in the wall, dive college bar. Bobcat Nation is everything a college kid could want in a sports bar and more! There is Texas State memorabilia covering every inch of the walls making it a place like no other in San Marcos. They show live footage of every away game Texas State plays. So if you can’t make it to the out of town games, just know that Bobcat nation has you covered for all football and Texas State sports events!

The bar surface has a holographic decal sticker of the Texas State Bobcat! How freaking cool is that!?
